“Survival of the Fittest” Tournament Mode comes to ARK: Survival Evolved

The developers of ARK: Survival Evolved are about to launch a tournament mode, where players battle it out in a Hunger Games style to-the-death contest.

At the start players can make a dash for a bunch of equipment – making themselves an obvious target – or run off into the forrest and hide. And to ensure that no one can hide for ever, the playing area will gradually contract as the tournament goes on. Eventually you’ll need to killĀ (or be killed).

The launch tournament starts on August 1st at 8pm BST (12pm PST), with 35 teams battling it out for a grand prize of $20,000. The tournament is scheduled to last for just five hours – that’s at least one way in which it differs from the Hunger Games. One way it doesn’t differ, is that it will be livestreamed for everyone to watch – and the audience can vote for which catastrophic event they’d like to happen next because every 30 minutes an ‘Evolution Event will occur – ranging from sever weather to unleashing a bunch of dinosaurs.

If you want to watch then head over the ARK page on Twitch.
