RollerCoaster Tycoon World Gets Release Date
RollerCoaster Tycoon World will be released on December 10th.
The first instalment in the RollerCoaster Tycoon series for a decade will also have two beta weekends, giving those who pre-purchase the game a sneak-peak before the rest of us.
The initial release will not contain a multiplayer mode, but that will be added in a free update at some point after the game the game is launched. There will be campaign modes where you’ll have to build up your park, unlocking new features as you go, a sandbox mode where you start with everything unlocked and infinite money and several scenarios where you have to turn around failing, pre-built parks.
The game will have Steam Workshop support allowing you to add different scenario assets and coasters, but Atari haven’t confirmed whether you’ll be able to tweak the gameplay itself.
We look forward to finding out more about the game as the launch (and beta weekends) approach. Hopefully this will be a worthy addition to one of the great sandbox franchises, but if it fails at least we can pin our hopes for a great theme park game on PlanetCoaster and Parkitect – both of which are coming next year.
