Minecraft is arguably the most famous of all sandbox games. Its infinite, procedurally generated maps mean you never run out of new places to explore and new environments in which to build.
The crux of Minecraft involves, logically enough, mining resources and using them to craft new items. The items and the rest of the blocks you can mine or create, allow you to build whatever your mind can imagine.
Minecraft has a survival mode where you battle monsters such as zombie, skeleton archers and creepers (who are intent on blowing up your creations – and you!). It also has a creative mode where you’re given the freedom to build whatever you can imagine.
There are also dozens of mod packs available to if you want your version of Minecraft to have lots of interesting machines or even to be set in space. The sky really is the limit.
