Islanders is a minimalist strategy game in which players can build cities on a variety of colourful islands. It takes much of its influence from games such as Anno and SimCity. Players can build these cities without spending hours and hours on the resource management side of things. Consequently, it is possible to expand settlements into huge cities, move around from island to island, and earn points for placing buildings.

The developers have stated that the game is ‘great for playing every now and then, discovering some new islands and beating your high score’. They are also keen to stress that the game DOESN’T include helicopters, guns, online multiplayer and orcs…

Key features of Islanders DO include:

  • city building gameplay described by the developers as ‘intuitive and rewarding’
  • numerous procedurally generated islands
  • relaxing atmosphere and vibrant colours.
