Far Cry Primal

Far Cry Primal is another instalment in the Far Cry series but this time – instead of guns and modern warfare – you are transported back to prehistoric times to do battle with ancient beast and ancient weapons.

You play as Takkar, a ‘beastmaster’ who is able to tame and command a variety of creatures to assist you in taking down your enemies. A lot of these animals are of the vicious, sabre-toothed variety but you can also tame owls, to allow you to get an aerial perspective of the battlefield.

Like previous Far Cry games, Primal allows you to explore a massive open world in whatever way you want, coming across a variety of challenges and lots of beautiful scenery – as well as terrifying beasts and deadly foes.

While you don’t have guns at your disposal, you do have a multitude of bows, spears and a few not-strictly-historically-accurate bombs. While we’re on the subject of things that aren’t entirely historically accurate, the bombs can dropped on enemies by the aforementioned owls.

Far Cry Primal is available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
